To build a global media production company, I chose to start with a podcast as a way to focus the message. I had no relevant experience in podcasting, broadcasting, digital communications, team building, or project management. I had low levels of confidence starting this out and an even lower budget. So for me the first step was "Send it!"
I jumped into YouTube and made videos with minimal SEO and views, let alone comments and shares. I thought it would be easy. That's the popular image of social though. The profiles with less views meant less value to add. More importantly, I didn't even know what I was looking for when researching unless it was for something specific. Totally lost.
With every left-handed problem set though, is a right-handed opportunity. I may not have known the questions to ask; but through the jump I identified a direction and a place to start.
