How do you live by your values?

How do you live by your values?

How do you live by your values?

You take an active role in your life choices. mentally. Actually try to critically think through either why you should make a certain decision, or what the impact will be when you do. More importantly, values are a way for people to find their way. Physically, when you get lost, you use a GPS. Even in the past, when you got lost you would use a compass, or a map. But what about spiritually? What does that even mean? Let's say that your relationship ends because somebody cheated on you. Let's also assume that that somebody you actually cared about on a deeper level than just friends. Chances are, then you start to wonder if it's you; is it something you did; is it something you said; is it something you didn't do or say? Oftentimes, that also leads to sadness, or maybe depression. It can be difficult to dig your own way back out. and that's why a support network is so important. Having friends you can rely on, or family you can talk to, gives you opportunities to supplement any spiritual deficiencies you're having at that moment.

However, resiliency is solely dependent on yourself. So building resiliency, has to be a self-imposed, individual Act. Maybe you value drive, ambition, tenacity, initiative, so you always push in a direction you think will give you good results in a project, in any setting. But when a relationship ends, you lose sight of that. Maybe you start to focus on your spiritual, physical or mental deficiencies. Instead, consider falling back to the fact that you value self-reliance, and being able to push in a direction that makes you feel good, that you're passionate about, or that brings you fulfillment. That can translate into your own more clearly defined sense of self; that is self-esteem. And when your self-esteem is higher, it matters less what other people think about you. It also matters less what people say about you. Now, that also means all things in moderation. There's a line if your self-esteem is too high, or artificially inflated, or just built into a lie based on a facade, then that confidence can become cockiness. Your pride and ego then become your newest weakness. Valuing harmony for example, can lead you to balance your self-esteem and pride with humility and gratitude. As humans, we have to better understand how and why to do those things. And in my experience, that only comes with experiential learning, and lots of failed attempts. More importantly, it also only started once I took an active role in paying attention to my values, developing a value system to better make decisions that I feel fulfilled and align with, and then envisioning what I want my character to grow into.
