How do I get my first podcast?
I wasn't sure either. The only reason I had some idea was because I happened to hear a buddy from the #MattandRyanPodcast talk about Carl Panzram in a investigatory review of that psycho. At the end of one of their conversations, I heard them say something about a service called #Anchor, now #SpotifyforPodcasters. I looked into it briefly and thought, "Why not?"
The biggest reason was that I hadn't considered any other options. I didn't know what I was doing, and just like elementary school, I didn't do my homework. Anchor turned out to be a great start for me, regarding distribution. But I still had to consider software/hardware for editing, production, communication channels, booking structure, and any other planning considerations.
My only considerations initially were as follows:
1. Anchor sounds good.
2. I'll just use my phone camera and microphone.
3. This doesn't seem too hard.
So then, there I was. Getting a podcast is easy. Have an idea; hit record. Podcasting is an industry for a reason. It requires a bit of structure and insight. So now on #TransactingValuePodcast, I have help, mentors, and equipment. Experience has taught me a lot of things; but one thing that I won't forget: you don't get your podcast. You earn it.
Not to get hyperbolic, but failure taught me that. What I have now, for the better, is what I have earned and grown into. I don't just mean as a business. I mean as a person.
However you decide to get your first podcast though, survival takes communication. Welcome to the team!
